About Cycling Chez-Nous

Who We Are

Since moving to France in February 2018, we have enjoyed exploring this beautiful area by bike.  The Haute Vienne, which borders the Dordogne and the Charente is a true cylist's paradise with wide, mainly traffic free roads that run through a landscape of fields and forests.  The  roads are a pleasure to cruise along, the sun on your back as the beauty of the region slides silently past you.  The area is steeped in history, with fairytale chateaux, each with a story and more recently the horror which was Oradour sur Glane where a whole town was massacred by the SS during the second world war.

Cycling Chez-Nous (Phil & Sue) are passionate about cycling, great food and fine wine.  We want to create an environment from our home that is welcoming to cycling enthusiasts and food and wine aficionados.  We want to share our home and allow guests to discover this stunning region, with it's unique landscape by cycling, combined with good food and fine french wines.

Hidden in a tiny hamlet, just 30 kms from Limoges and 51 kms from beautiful Brantome, we can offer either Gite accommodation or tailor made dining to suit your needs.

We will try and introduce you to as much local cuisine as possible, either eaten on the terrace overlooking the garden or at our oak dining table in the Salon.

When it comes to cycling, France has few equals. Cyclists are greeted warmly and are treated with the greatest respect by motorists, making a french cycling holiday a real joy.

France may be the home of the Tour de France, but what ever your level of cycling the Haute Vienne / Dordogne / Charente offers something for everyone, from a challenging 100km - 160 km a day, or a simple trundle along the Voie verte to Chalus, where Richard the Lionheart was mortally wounded.  Along the 13 km Voie verte are various opportunities to stop off for a drink or a bite to eat.

Why choose us?

The options for your bespoke cycling holiday are endless.  As a region, the Haute Vienne is a stunning location to cycle in.

We can build your perfect cycling holiday, by either a full day or half day guided tour, taking in beautiful, historical chateaux, lakes, rolling roads, fabulous scenery or a self-guided route, using gpx files.

If you want a fine dining restaurant, we can arrange it.

If you want to ride hard and do some serious climbing you can.

If you want a day off the bike to take in a gourmet market, or a spend a day at one of the many local swimming lakes or a day canoeing on the Vienne it's possible.

In the summer spend an evening at one of the many local producers markets, buy their produce, have it cooked, whilst you wait, sit at a trestle table, drinking local wine and listening to live music.

Based at Chez Nous, each morning after a hearty breakfast, you will set off on one of our fantastic cycle routes that leave from our piece of rural France, that we are proud to call home!

An absolute gem of a stay, everything was perfect.  Sue & Phil made us feel right at home and are extremely helpful.  Would highly recommend a cycling holiday based at their beautiful french home.  Great food, best of luck with the dog's operation!

Paul & Jenny McCormack

A perfect place in a beautiful rural area.  Sue & Phil went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay.  Great hospitality, clean and comfortable, well equipped accommodation and the few days cycling was awesome.  I will be back.

Phil North

We should all be staying at Sue & Phil's before they get fully booked.  Such a pretty spot and warm and attentive hosts.  We felt really at home and the garden is charming with chickens and an apple orchard, so much so, I had two days off the bike with a good book on the comfy sun loungers,  whilst Jon explored the area with Phil, a bit faster than I was able.  Thank  you  both for a great stay.
